Question about shipping from dealers for different states

Been trying to find an answer to this but unsuccessful so far.

Here's my dilemma: We make office furniture and supply them to our distributors/dealers across the country. When an order is placed from out of state, we ask the dealer nearest to the customer to go deliver the item to them, and all this is done manually.

So what we would like is this: Customer makes an order, chooses the shipment (we've got pre-arranged rates) and makes payment. Then a confirmation email is sent to the customer, to the store admin (pretty standard so far) AND to the nearest dealer based on the customer's shipping address. This is the important bit.

Also would be possible to track stock quantities at these dealers? Is there any component that does dealer inventory management or can VM handle this as well?

By state, zipcode etc?

I guess it would have to be by zip code for location accuracy

Actually i wouldn't mind paying for this functionality as long as it works properly.

Any tips anyone?
