How do I build left category menu with store on home page?

Joomla! 2.5.18
Virtuemart 2.6.6

Can you please inform me how to build a VirtueMart Store that has a left category menu and Store on home page?

I would like it to work similar to these example VirtueMart stores:

Right now my Virtuemart store only has the store populating the home page. I want it to have a left category menu there.

You need to assign the VM modules to the appropriate menu item and user position on your Joomla template.

Thanks that helped.
Now I now have a category menu on the homepage with the store.
The category menu is positioning on the right of the store rather than the left where I want it to be. Do you know why the category menu is positioning itself on the right side of the store rather than the left side?
