Jow to get prompted about VMupdates?

Hi!
Now when live update has been shut off in VM and you manually have to update with joomla installer, what's the best way to get notified that there is a new version of vm out?

Through Joomla's control panel update checker - but ignore the updates indicated in VM2.6.4 for mod_virtuemart_category and Paypal as those were test files to confirm that the mechanism works, and unfortunately were not removed before release of 2.6.4
