Reservation of a product without payment

Hi! Does anyone know if (and how) it is possible to add a category of products to a VM 2 store that can only be reserved? There are also other products in the store that need to be payed. But we would like to add items that can only be reserved. We just want to get an e-mail with this reservation and then contact the buyer.

The reason for this: The items are secondhand books. We need to check if the reserved item is still available before it can actually be sold. Other items are new book that can be sold on the site, because we can always order new books.

Any suggestions?
