Can I allow cart orders to be submitted while bypassing payment collection

I found some similar questions on the forums but none that quite captured this scenario:

I am about to install VM2.0.20b onto my Joomla 2.5 site. My client is a product wholesaler whose customers are shop owners. The functionality I am looking for is:

Unregistered Visitors:

  • will be able to browse the products throughout VM, but will not be able to add products to the cart or complete an order
  • Will not see any prices associated with the products
Registered Visitors:

  • Will be able to see product prices when they browse the store
  • Will be able to add items to their shopping cart. When they checkout, I would like to bypass any payment collection steps. I want the order to be created but they should be taken directly to an order complete confirmation page. They should not have been asked for any payment details.

Essentially I am trying to leverage the VM shopping cart user experience to be used as an online order taking system for clients. My client would be reviewing submitted cart orders after they are complete and then would arrange for offline payments himself.

So the question is, is this something that I can do within VM2?

Thanks

Yes, this is easy to do. You can use shopper group specific pricing so that prices/add to cart are shown only to default (registered users) but not to unregistered. The order method is called "Purchase order" - the order is sent to the store owner who then creates an invoice for payment.
