Hi

Could someone kindly remind me if VM2 allows you to sell downloadable files please?  If so is this part of the VM2 installation or will a 3rd party plugin be required?

Many thanks.

I'll voice my recommendation for the DigiToll Downloads extension. We've used it on a few client sites and while there were a few minor hiccups getting it configured, it works very well and offers great features for selling digital goods. http://www.digitollsoftware.com/

It does need a plugin, but there is plenty of choice from basic and free to sophisticated and paid for, but with the cost likely to be covered in the first few sales.

All these sites require payment (except for kainhofer, whose site is down)  You mentioned basic and free.  I can't find one that is free, regardless of complexity level.  Since I am building a VirtueMart cart without garauntee that our payment processor will work with it, I want to keep price down as much as possible.  Can you direct me toward one of these "basic and free"?
