Can't unlock shopper fields for user registration

I spent some time searching the forum for the answer to this, but nothing really helped - I'm trying to disable the terms of service required field from user registration.

Some details:

Joomla Version: 1.5.15
Virtuemart: 2 (I didn't see any other numbers along with it, so I'm assuming 2.0)

I've managed to disable it on the cart page, (the portion where you must agree to proceed) BUT when a user registers it still makes them check the box that they agree. Personally, I am fine with making this a requirement as I feel all shopping carts should have a terms of service agreement, BUT our client doesn't have one prepared yet and until then doesn't want it to be a requirement.

I've made sure to uncheck the boxes via the administration as far as having to agree to terms of service. I have also commented out the section for it on the actual cart page.

My issue is when I go into try and edit the "shopper fields" I see little locks next to specific fields. I can't unlock the "agreed" field.

Any suggestions? Maybe I'm going about it wrong...any help would be greatly appreciated.

Joomla 1.5.15 is very old and is known to be insecure. Also it is no longer supported.

VirtueMart 2.0 was also found to be insecure - all versions below 2.0.10 are considered as unsecure.  So i suggest you update to Joomla 2.5.8 and VM2.0.18a.

To unlock userfields see http://forum.virtuemart.net/index.php?topic=111063.msg372666#msg372666  - this works with VM2.0.16 and later.
