Separate price and currency tags

Hello

Is it possible to separate the price amount and the currency mark into two separate tags?

example...
Original: <span>10 €</span>
Changed: <span>10</span><span>€</span>

I thing there need to be changed the file currencydisplay.php, but nothing i have done has worked.
