One page checkout w/o registration in cart

HI,

The developer I am working with thinks that this exists in the base product, but when I search the forum, I just find links to third party add ons.  I do not want to require that people register, since most do not order through the website more than one time.  In addition, I would like the checkout to be a streamlined as possible - one page including the cart contents at the top (editable if necessary), the shipping address and the bill to - is what I would prefer. 

Is that doable in the base product?  Or must a third party extension be purchased to get this functionality?

You can remove the requirement for registration using the settings in VM configuration/Checkout, eg. On checkout, ask for registration

You can rearrange/simplify the checkout procedure by editing the cart templates & using template overrides. 3rd party plugins are also a possibility, their main advantage being a time saver for those who have PHP/HTML/css skills but limited time availability for a task, or don't have a clue how to do something for themselves.
