SSL problem with checkout

There is a strange issue with Virtuemart while using the SSL function of the component. It works fine while using the shopping cart module, not so with the modal box which shows up while adding something to the cart. If choosing go to cart from the module, the cart page shows up with a ssl link (https:.....). If using the same function from the modal popup dialog box (ajax add to cart), the cart link does not force ssl, so the cart page shows only http instead of https. Even if the cart page has a Joomla menu link, where use SSL is defined as true, the link from the modal box does not link with https.
