Use category more than once

My customer asked me, if there is a chance to asign a sub category to more main categories.
Let's say I have 2 main categories (clothes and equipment).

I have a sub category shoes, which i want to put it under clothes, but some people would search it under equipment. I know i can make another sub category shoes and put all products in this category again. But the problem is, when you already have like 50+ products in category shoes and want to asign it to another main category, you cant.. you have to make another category shoes and put all those products under this category too. This would take a lot of time if there would be hundreds of products.

So my question is, is there any module or something, so you can asign one sub category to more categories, so you don't need to create new one and put all products in it.. this would spare a lot of time for administrators. Or could VirtueMart people consider this as an option for next update?

I haven't found any similar topic asking about that.
