2.0.9a Variant Fields not saving in Product custom field

I am using a test site - all products and settings as normal downloads

Create a simple variant go to product and add variant >> won't save

Any Changes in Text or description in the product section does save -

You forgot to check the box "Overwrite plugin values of parent"
