order by id

Hello all and excuse my english
I want to show my product in a category. I saw in the backend that i can choose to order it by ID or Name etc..
I choose to show my category order by ID but the problem is here.
If i choose order by ID it shows me the products old and then the new. I want that the new product appears first it seems more logical.
How can i do that plz, i didn't find where changing it

Dont u think it's more logical to have newest product at the top of the list ? It should be something easy to do, no ?

Thanks a lot P2Peter it works great. It would be more logical to have this order instead the other...
Why can we change the simple thing in backoffice, it s very strange to have this code to change for a things so evident.
