CSS override doesn't work

I copied VMSITE-LTR.CSS to my template folder and renamed it, changed the index.php from the template to include the new css. Then disabled the Virtuemart setting to not use the Virtuemart CSS.
It looks like it's just ignoring this new css.
What am I doing wrong?

Well, it looks like it was a copy/paste error in the CSS include command. It now works.

But what is the best way to handle references in this CSS for images? Currenlty all images are in ../images/vmgeneral/, but they cannot be found. Should I change all the references the CSS? Move the images?
