How to filter by manufacturer?

Hi, my name is Brad, and I'm with InMotion Hosting. I've been writing a VirtueMart tutorial series for our customers and am currently running into a snag with the filter by manufacturer.

Problem / How to replicate
1. Visit my fictitious VirtueMart store bradm.inmotiontesting.com/joomla25 , which sells books
2. In the left menu under "VM - Search in Shop" search for the word web
3. There will be three search results. Under "Manufacturer", no matter if you choose "Book Publisher A" or "Book Publisher B", the same results will show.

I'm assuming that this feature should filter by manufacturer, is this correct? Any ideas why it is not working? I have 4 books, and 2 are assigned to the first Publisher and 2 are assigned to the second publisher.
