Sort by custom fields

Hi VM2 gurus,

I am utilizing the custom fileds to hold additional information about the product. I would like to use it to sort the products on the front end. I have looked at many threads here and the VM2 code as well. I am having trouble on how to achieve this. Could you guys please give me some help and point me to the right direction please?

i am new to VM and really need same thing as mentioned here. Maybe someone knows some ways to do that?
