Don't want the text 'VIRTUEMART' to display in the url for customers

I hope this isn't a stupid question. I have started learning e-commerce over the last year so I am no guru and need help in some areas....

When my users click on a product or are just browsing through my store... the url reads:

www.mystore.com/virtuemart/category/product

I would like it to just be shown as:

www.mystore.com/category/product

Is this possible?

What VM version are you using and in which Joomla version?
this could be solved by SEO components / modules / plugs ... search on that and you'll find.

vicnkris this is the VirtueMart 2 section of the board, so I'll answer for that version. Do not use any third party SEO component on Joomla 1.7, just use J1.7's inbuilt SEO. You can also add your own SEO slug if you need to.

and if your shop is not that large, you should create a joomla menu link to all categories.

That will make category links like this
www.mystore.com/category/product

IF there is not a link to the category, it will look like this

www.mystore.com/MAIN-SHOP-ALIAS/category/product

jenkinhill: is not necessary to have other components installed to modify the links in J1.7? That's very good!
