Would Virtuemart 2 support different languages for products and categories like Joomla 1.6 did for articles or have we use Joomfish as before to translate the shop content?

In general we use the standard joomla language files.

So when the j1.6 compability is reached it should work natively
Should I fix your bug, please support the VirtueMart project and become a member

There is a post concerning this problem in the Joomfish forum written by Alex (Joom!Fish core team):

I hope it will work, because meanwhile I stopped completing my Joomla 1.5/VM1.1.6 site and instead started working on a Joomla 1.6/VM2.0 bilingual shop (...well, actually on the Joomla part at present) ;D

The documentation would suggest that the Beta 3 version of VirtueMart 2.0 has fixed the language support problem. I installed the latest version but the tokens are not being translated.
I checked the install and in the language folder for administrator there are two files: en-GB_Virtuemart.sys.ini and  en-GB_Virtuemart.ini. Whilst in the root level language folder there is en-GB.com_virtuemart.ini as I would expect.
Since people are reporting other bugs it would appear that they have solved the language problem.
Any suggestions gratefully received,
Ian

If your are testing on Joomla 1.6.1 you can try to use the language files attached below. Unzip the file and then copy over the original ones. Make backups of the original language files first. A few things are missing, but on my local system these en-GB language files work pretty well.

I had to stop testing with beta 3. Everything i tried i kept getting "VendorID list is empty" or something. if i hit the "isVendor" on the main screen it goes to "disabled for beta". So can't do anything.
