Incorrect pricing displayed (with regard to taxes and customer location)

Hi guys,

I hope someone can help me.  For some strange reason, about a week ago, all of a sudden browsing customers within Europe (anonymous or not logged in yet), are seeing product prices displayed only EXCLUDING VAT.  They subsequently get to the checkout page and are surprised by the nasty 21% tax addition.   They used to be able to see 2 prices before this weirdness occurred:  a total price including VAT and the amount of the VAT itself listed underneath.   As I say, I have changed nothing but now even browsing myself I have the same issue and am located in The Netherlands.

Does this maybe have something to do with Geolocator of VMLocalise?   I know nothing about anything really so I hope someone has a tip LOL.  Do these plugins/extensions need to be updated or something?  If so, can someone help?

These are my software versions:

Joomla version: 3.9.11
Virtuemart 3.6.0 10113
PHP: 7.3

I have attached pics of what I mean with regard to the pricing, I hope it's clear.  Also a pic of my tax rules, but only one is published (has been for years) and all worked fine up until now.

Considering I have not changed anything with the rules, I am guessing it's related to the Geolocator or VMLocalise, but as I say, any ideas or tips on how to fix this would be greatly appreciated.

Happy new year and kind wishes,
Carmen

Yes this has to do with the database that the geolocator uses. I think you can google for some hints about this.

Have u tried re-installing the latest https://extensions.virtuemart.net/tools/geolocator-for-joomla-detail ?

On my own built geo extension I found the MaxMind DB fairly inaccurate so rewrote it to use https://lite.ip2location.com/database/ip-country which seems to work much better

The latest iStraxx version is using https://software77.net/geo-ip/ db which is also accurate I believe

Many thanks, do I need to backup my site first or can I just install this version over the old one without anything strange happening? LOL

GJC Web Design

you should always test any changes on a backup copy

and backups you should be doing regularly in any case although most hosts incl. this in their packages these days
