Child Variants not displaying

I have a brochure that we offer in English and Spanish and I have them functioning fine on my current site. My staging site isn't allowing the generic child variant to display the two options.  I have tested this on protostar template as well as my custom template and it behaves the same way.  It displays a drop-down that says, "Select:" and the only option is "Select." How can I get my child variants to display from the drop-down list?

how is your custom field setup ?
You are displaying the parent, right ?
And the children are published ?

The product linked is the parent and the children are published. If I set this up as a multivariant it shows the children (but missing prices).

Current custom field is: Generic child variant
Show title: yes
Published: yes
Car Attribute, input, searchable: No
Layout Position: addtocart
Admin Only: no
Hidden: no
Display Parent: No
Parent Orderable: No
Show Price: Yes
Use Ajax: No

Have you stock ?
If you disable product without stock in VM config, you dont see the childrens

I do have product in stock but I also have "Products out of stock are orderable, no special action" selected.
I added the multi variant option on the product to show that it will display both child products, but without pricing. I have other products with children but none of them are displaying their children products with the generic child variant custom field.

It's still installed.  I will change the template style on the category the product is in to Protostar.
