email notification when a customer leaves the shopping cart

Hi

i want to get notified by an email when a customer leaves the shopping cart in steps to payment...
how can i do this?

create a plugin that reads the abandoned/saved cart data from the db
maybe query it by cron etc to send new ones to you by email

I have a module already to display this in admin
