Error with Paypal payment method

Hi,

I recently received an email as below:
An error with your payment paypal on your store xxx. The details are logged in the file paypal.1.log.php

On checking my Paypal account, found that the amount has been received, however order status was showing as Pending. This is the first time I have received this mail, till now it was all fine. I have not made any changes to the configuration.
Is it Paypal issue or VM?

I checked the log file, it showed below line along with all values passed.
2016-08-18 01:48:16 ERROR Invalid IPN validation: Array

I checked couple of other threads, but could not resolve it.

Can anyone guide me to right direction.

isn't this the reverse proxy setting in the VM admin?  (I have never used/needed it)

Apologies! Missed to mentioned the versions.
I am using JM 2.5.20 and VM 2.0.26d versions.
I know there are old versions, but do not want to migrate right away due to some plugins not compatible with latest versions. Working on that.

with such old versions there is very little chance anyone will be helping..

I suggest you search about reverse proxy setting in the VM admin and see if u can copy the code into your old version

Is it possible to just upgrade the Paypal plugin alone?

test and find out.. its just a plugin..  how could we answer this question?
