Passwords recovery

Hello,

I don't know if this is the right place to ask this question, but I have a lot of users that have to be transfered from an Open Cart site to Joomla 3.x and VirtueMart 3 one. I transfered all the other data exept the passwords. Or at least they are not correct in the new site.

Is there any step by step procedure I can follow to transfer the passwords too? I know about services like Cart2Cart, but as long as only the passwords are not tranfered, I'd like to make it by myself if possible.

Can anyone help?

P.S. I think I'd rather get help for this here, than in the Open Cart forum. That's why I'm posting it in this forum.
