importing xml/csv/svc (password protected)

hi, I want to build a webshop (i have joomla 3, latest version of VM), my supplier gave me a xml link of products, but it's protected (link to file, user, password, license key).

How do import it to my site, just opening the link, won't show anything.
If necessary I can downgrade joomla to 2.5

I assume you need to access it by a POST .. e.g. cURL etc that can pass the variables

or a simple url with the variables

J version has nothing to do with it

u then need something to process the xml.. csvi etc or a bespoke plugin

on joomla 1.5, i had a module for virtuemart which did all this (it's in class folder of virtuemart) i just entered link,id,pass,license key and pressed IMPORT(also it automatically reimports every 7 days), but i have no idea, how to upgrade it to new version

I really don't understand where the concept that all web based skills are free, comes from....

i just assume that there are premade addons already, i just couldn't find any
