How do I set up a test siteto host a clone of my live site

i have set up a test hosting site to host a clone of my live site before upgrading to VM3

however the frontend of the cloned site works but I get a 404 message when I try to log into the backend

can someone help me on this please?

How did you clone the site? What are you using as testing host?

It is hosted on a cpanel package on my VPS it was a full site backup of my main sites cpanel the databse has been copied and set up too

The mainsite seems to work fine see stage2.pantshq.com

but when I go to the admin page stage2.pantshq.com/administrator/?e-commerce when i log in  it just goes to a 404 error

Any suggestions?

Akkeba backup is the safest way to clone a site as the installation routine corrects paths/urls.

Whay aren't you logging to the backend simply on stage2.pantshq.com/administrator  ?  - where does your ?e-commerce come from?
