Hi,
when I try to save my Shop information I get an error message and the changes are not saved.

The red message I get is: vmError: VmTableData Sef Alias in record is missing! Can't save the record with no Sef Alias.

How can I fix this?

Thanks,
S@

I got the same problem, can't add , edit product categories and product.got the error " VmTableData Sef Alias in record is missing! Can't save the record with no Sef Alias."

My PHP is 5.2.17.
Joomla! 2.5.19 Stable
vm is 2.6.0.

is there any other information needed?

jenkinhill

That is enough info to identify the problem, thanks.
The PHP version on the server is too old and should be updated. VM2.6 requires an minimum of PHP5.3.10 (and Joomla will soon require 5.3.10 minimum, too)
See the release notes: http://virtuemart.net/news/latest-news/456-virtuemart-are-proud-to-release-vm2-6

I'm getting exactly the same error.

Joomla 2.5.20
VM 2.6
PHP 5.3 (support ticket with web hoster pending to find out exact sub-version; also tested with 5.4)

Edit 12:13 PM:
PHP5.3 -> 5.3.23
PHP5.4 -> 5.4.13

Edit 8:08 PM:
Did a fresh install of complete package (Joomla + VM) and the problem seems to be gone. Not a big problem on a test system, but could be annoying on a live site.

Does anybody resolve the problem?

Have the same error:

Sef Alias in record is missing! Can't save the record with no Sef Alias

Joomla 2.5.16
VM 2.6.0

Please, help!  :(

It should work with all php versions.

Maybe the easiest fix is just to update to vm2.6.7. People just often miss to fill all information. So just check if all fields at top of your vendor tab are filled.

virtuemart - 2.5 0.20 php 2.6.6 joomla 4.5.24 I also use this version vmError similar problems, there should be no such downgrade php

Milbo

and what is with vm2.6.8?

Again, the problem appears usually only in the shop edit view, or if you edit a user who is vendor.

;) Going to Site>Global Configuration > Unicode Aliases set to YES and then going to Virtuemart Configuration > SEO and clearing (making it blank) > Seo Suffix fixed it for me.
Try posting a link to your website in your profile, or a link to the error page if possible.

A picture is worth a thousand words. For XP get http://www.bhelpuri.net/Snippy/SnippyDownload.htm, or...

Windows Vista has a Snipping Tool in the Accessories area of the Start Button.

Have you read the manual? http://virtuemart.net/documentation/User_Manual/index.html I did, huh?
