I can't seem to find this sentence in the language overrides. The text appears after leaving virtue mart to your payment option.
Currently on Joomla 3.3.3, VirtueMart 2.9.9.4. Is there a simple fix for this? I just want to translate it since my website isn't in English.

There are language files are stored in the payment plugin directories

the message is being fired from the plugin
e.g.
plugins/vmpayment/paypal/language/en-GB/en-GB.plg_vmpayment_paypal.ini

You may be able to change /add your own language file
