Don't show stockable child product and show parent product when out of stock

I have products with stockable child products and I want to hide the child products that are not in stock (now I only can show the notify) and when alle childs are out of stock I don't want to hide the parent, I want to show the parent with a message that it's sold out. Is there anybody who has made this possible?
