How to hide subcategories on the main store page?

hello,

joomla version 2.5.22. VM version 2.6.6.

seems silly but i can't find it.

i have 9 main categories, each with a few subcategories.

the main store page is displaying ALL categories, including the subs. i want it to display ONLY the main categories, witought the subcategories.

search for it in folder: templates/template/html/com_virtuemart/virtuemart
both files "default.php" and "default_categories.php" and can figure it out.

must be meesing something.

would apriciate any advice....

Under Configuration/Templates try the switch "Show Children Category" under Shopfront settings
