Garbled Message above Header for Terms of Service

I am using VM2.0.26d on Joomla 2.5.19.
I am also using RocketTheme Clarion template.
My site is at http://sycpb.org (but you can't checkout without credentials).
I am getting garbled error/information messages at the top of the page in the Checkout pages.  For example, if I don't check the box accepting Terms of Service, I get a row of circle-I icons with the message superimposed.
Is the formatting of this message controlled by VM, or by the Clarion template?
How can I fix this?
