This is an old topic, and most replies suggest that Virtuemart cannot do this: automatically assign a user to a Joomla user group after successful purchase based on a product. For instance, product 1 assigns them to group 1, etc. And that group gives them access to view the product.

I don't believe this is that challenging of a feature, and would like to point out that Mijoshop (Opencart) has it built in. I'm writing to find out if this feature is in the works, or if anyone knows of a plugin I haven't heard or, or if another developer is working on this feature. Thanks!

I just bought this solution and works fine  :)

$10 euro

Instructions @: http://extensions.joomla.org/extensions/extension-specific/virtuemart-extensions/virtuemart-orders/25518

Purchase: http://open-tools.net/virtuemart-2-extensions/vm2-add-buyers-to-joomla-groups.html

Was a relief to avoid more expensive subscription tools such as AEC - I can also skip akeeba subs and now sell subscriptions straight from the store.

Hi cromcrom, this plugin seems perfect also for my site, I want to sell digital products and temporary subscriptions, but how do you manage the temporary subscriptions when they expire? I mean, do you remove the shopper from the group manually? How will you automatically send an e-mail to suggest a renewal of the subscription?

Maybe it is also required an extension that manage all these actions.

Let me know please
