Homepage Layout page & module published

Hi,
I bought a virtuemart extension from a 3rd party recently along with a theme from the same source. Having inserted the theme I am having difficulty in only applying the slideshow extension to the homepage only.
I have published the extension through joomla in a top-a module position and have linked it to the shop menu. However when you click on the shop menu you get the homepage o.k. but the slideshow remains published on all other virtuemart pages. I cannot find a link to the default page of virtuemart to tie it to or in the configuration page of virtuemart. Do I need to edit the start_default.php file in the virtuemart theme and if so what php insertion should I be looking for.
Any help gratefully appreciated.
