Pin the side panel open

I notice in recent versions, the left side panel in the backend of VM2 auto-closes.  It's a pain to have to click to open it up all the time.  Can it be pinned open?

I have never seen that on well over 200 VM2 installations. Do you have some odd JavaScript running in the backend?
