Double tooltip on backend

Hi

VM 2.0.4 final, Joomla 2.5.4

When I hover over labels in the VM backend, I get two tooltips.
One looks like a speech bubble and contains just the label text.
Underneath this is the "correct" tooltip containing the explanation relating to the specific field.

Any idea what might be causing this?

Somebody else reported having this issue a couple of months ago. ISTR it was related to a typography plugin in their Joomla template that worked for FE and also the BE. If you have such a plugin try disabling it.

I can confirm this issue on Joomla 2.5, Virtuemart 2.0.10. Obviously an outdated version, but perhaps the problem still exists in 2.0.18. We have done too many core hacks to update and find out.

I have only noticed the problem in the product edit view. I corrected it by removing all references to the hasTip class contained in the product edit view template. Not sure why it's there in the first place, since Virtuemart doesn't even use the hasTip class as a selector when creating tooltips...
