loadTemplate 'images' causing page to hang

The cart on the whole runs pretty quickly except when I click on product details. The whole page displays fine with image of product but needs to wait until routine has completed before links and image resize is available. If I remove the loadTemplate "images" lines from the default.php the page loads very quickly. Why is this happening any ideas?  thanks

Right got it Using the VirtueMart jQuery needs to be disabled how can I find why this is causing conflict? I am not running any other modules or software but the light box or whatever it is doing on image resizing is causing the dreaded hang here otherwise the speed is fine with over 2000 products..
