Queries and lookups from the virtuemart database

Hi Chaps/Chappettes,
Fairly new to virtuemart but already coming up against some stumbling blocks when wanting to retrieve information about products bought, who bought them etc.
The report function within virtuemart gives you a top level overview on numbers of products bought, total values per month etc but i want something more detailed.

What does everyone suggest?

Has virtuemart not developed any tools for running more detailed queries?
Is there nothing more established out there?

Obviously a bit concerned about being a guinea pig!

VirtueMart 2 was only released a year ago and it takes time for 3rd party developers to get around to integrating with their customer/order/accounts tracking. This function will not be provided by the core team, as everyone has their own post sale requirements, and the core is already too big for some people to be able to install.

You can use CSVI to export order data in a csv file for import into Excel if you wish, and obviously can export it from there into other programs. You have to think around these things a bit to come up with a solution that works for you or for your client.
