Shopper Permissions

My first post ........... please be gentle.
I have the latest Joomla/VM2 and have just noticed that my shoppers (Orders &shoppers-Shoppers) all have "admin" as the Group. An edit icon has also appeared at the bottom of my product pages allowing any logged in User to edit a product - BUT the system will not allow the change to be saved when the Save button is pressed.
I have also run AdminTools - fix file permissions on the site but no change.
After hours of scratching my balding head, my question is    "how do I change the shopper permissions to fix this?"
