I need to make goEmerchant work!

I see this question has been asked before, but it has been a while and any answers seem to be out of date.

What goEmerchant gives me me instructions I can follow to a point.. but the directories they use so I can find the php files to edit just are not there.

Is there any other option other than a programmer creating something.. this is out of my comfort zone for sure!
