Title: Price per Shoppers Groups
Post by: hugopt on December 12, 2011, 16:09:18 PM
Hello.

It's possible in VirtueMart 2 (like VirtueMart 1), define per shopper group the product price?

For example:

        -default-       -gold-
P1        10                6
P2        12                11
P3        10                9
....

Thank you.

Yes. It is in the user manual......

The manual talks about VM 1, I don't see how this can be done in VM 2.

Ah read the post too quickly, thanks RolandD.

Select the Shopper Group on the Product Information tab worked for an earlier release, enables products to be shown to specific groups only, as well. Have not tested that for RC3_Pre_J yet.

Thank you jenkinhill for your help.

But what I ask cannot be done as you say.

A product should be show to everyone, but with different prices depending the shopper group.

This option will be create as in VM1.x?

Thank you.

you can do standardized percentage discounts for shopper groups, by category etc. BUT not 3 separate prices

Post by: stephen01 on January 04, 2012, 21:05:56 PM
My work around for this was to clone the product, change the price to the shopper group price, then set the product to be visible only to that shopper group.  Since I cannot get the cloning to clone the custom fields (and values thereof) nor control visibility of the cloned products for a specific shopper group, this functionality no longer exists.

It is crucial for us to be able to specify a different price per shopper group with the price visible only to that group. If this capability has gone away in VM2, we will need to rethink what ecommerce solution we employ. Please provide this important function!

This exactly what is need too!

It was possible in VM1 but terrible to work with.

I hoped VM 2 would have add extra price fields per shoppergroup....

Did you find anything better solution?

Wow im joigning this interesting discussion because it is crucial for us as well to get this version in virtuemart 2.0
We have 3 types of customer and they do not have access to the same price!

please let us know on how to fix that?
the best would be to have a possibility to choose in the price tabs

I can not believe that this feature has been deleter in VM2.

but I f i clone produt my stock inventory is going to be mess up? no?

per exemple:
product A customer A(shopper gourp)= 10 €
product A customer B (shopper group)= 25€

If customer A is going to buy 3x product A + customer B buy 2 product A and that my stock of product A is at = 50
Is my stock going to be = 45?

Yes, I agree.  I have a customer unable to upgrade to VM2 until this is implemented.

Not a plugin expert, otherwise I'd write something myself.

Anyone for hire? :-)

I agree with the need (re-need?) for this feature. Cloning 300 products 3 times is very cumbersome, to say the least. especially when you have a new product list every quarter.

jenkinhill, thanks for the tutorial about how to set up the prices. I am new to this I have two questions for you. 1. what do you mean when you say "clone". Do you just create another item in the product list but with a different price? 2. I have added different shopping groups, but I am unclear as to how to add members to each grouping. I am using Joomla and VirtueMart and they have been very good so far-I just need to get used to using them!

Thanks!

Found this thread through Google, was looking for Prices per Shoppers Group.

Are there any pans on implementing this feature for 2.0.x? I want to be able to spicify special prices for seperate shoppers groups (like everyone in this thread, I guess).

Thanks in advance.

I was informed recently that perhaps trying the 2.0.7c version of VM (in beta) might solve this problem.
I haven't been able to get it to work, myself.
J 2.5.4/ VM 2.0.7c (doesn't work in 2.0.6)

Still in limbo... client frying because they're not making money online (their main income) through the inability to satisfy wholesale clients.
I've been trying any work-around for a few weeks to no avail.  Client doesn't want double products to have to admin'... there are a lot of products.

Really hoping the team can pull together the final piece of code that does something like tie the created 'shopper group' to the 'calculated results', having the results actually 'showing' for each shopper group when they're logged in - and that all shopper group calculations/results become a real conversion at checkout.  ie: No point being logged in as a wholesaler if they can't get the discount.   ;)

I don't sweat it often... but if I'm asked to find an alternative for a platform that has served so well up until this recent... sorry, have to call it  an 'issue'... I have no idea what this lady will be able to use to replace VM.

Go "The Team"!... you can do it! (*anxiously dabs brow  :))

If anyone has any suggestions... feel free.

It works!
J 2.5.4/ VM 2.0.7c

I'm working with "%" discount, so this is how it worked for me.

Create shopper group:
Add your shopper group name and description (don't forget to publish)
In Show Following prices, I have ticked
- Enable shoppergroup specific price display & Show Prices
and the following Show Price & Show Label boxes:
- Baseprice with Tax, but without discounts, Discounted Price without tax, Final salesprice, Tax amount
(Your choices may be different)
SAVE

Create shopper group calculations:
Go to Products > Tax & Calculation Rule Details
Add Name/ Rule - and select 'Price modifier before tax' as the Type of Arithmetic Operation
Math Operation: -%
Value: 50.0000 (eg.)
Currency: Select you own
Product Category:  We selected all.
Shopper Group: Your selection from the Shopper Group you already created ( )
Country: Obvious
State/Region: Obvious
Visible for Shopper: yes
Visible for Vendor: yes
Start date: yesterday
End date: never
Vendor: Yours
Publish and Save.

Go to your Products and edit each product.
In Product Information, look for 'Pricing rules overrides' and click inside the 'Discount Type' input box to select your Shopper Group which should be visible if you've created it and published it.
Check the front end as a general registered user, as well as a 'shopper group' user to see the results.
You can take it from there.  ;D

I hope this helps someone else.
Cheers... off to update some products ;)

EDIT: Back again. Nearly...  Not quite.
After logging in as a registered user in the default group, the discount allocated for the other shopper group is given at 'add to cart'.
The 'discount type' on the product works across the board - you're not able to differentiate between the shopper groups.
A couple of additional options required here unless someone can explain it.
If you work this one out, or have an answer... can you get back to me?

:) Thanks

Has there been anything further on this?  I need to have different prices for different shopper groups, just as there were different price lists for different shopper groups in VM1.  This was a fantastic feature and a must for anyone selling to multiple types of people.  I have tried to use the calculation rule, thinking this was what was going to work.  I have setup a rule with 50% off for wholesale customers but the issue is that this 50% off price is showing to ALL customers (logged in or not).

I have at minimum 3 different price lists with 500 items (not a huge amount but enough to make manual edits time consuming).  I don't want to have to clone each item to have 3 of the same, just to have different prices for different shoppers.

Does anyone have this working successfully without cloning?

Any help would be most appreciated.

Would someone please let us know if this is indeed going to be a feature?  If so, please suggest a time frame for completion.
We need to be able to advise our clients if they're wasting their time waiting so that we can all move on, if necessary.

Thanks in advance.

After trying countless ways to get a -% discount for a shopper group (wholesale) to work I've found it doesn't appear to be possible to do.
I can get all shopper groups to get the discount that should only apply to the wholesale group, which of course I don't want. I'm not going to clone every product to workaround this.

I've searched and read through this forum and only seen people not being able to make this work correctly.

If I could help fix this I would, but I'm not a developer, just a user
It would be helpful if someone from the development team confirmed that this isn't working (yet?)

Hi

now you want 3 different prices for 3 different shopper groups.

what i do is,
1)set up your products with all 3 groups selected.
2)then make a rule for each of the groups you have and set up the amount of profit you want for the specified group.
3)in that rule only select the specified group to be able to see the price.

once all the rules are made only the specified shopper group can see the price(when you make a rule don't select more the one group to be able to see the rule)
you set up the amount of profit you want for the specified group in the Rules so only they can see it.

(A side note for noobes)when you make a new rule make sure you select all categories for all your products to show the right price on all of the products.

have a gate day to all.

Hi All I needed this feature

So I built it as a VM Joomla plugin as well as 1 change to the core unfortunately I could not see any way around it.

Any how it works like so

On the products detail tab, all shopper groups are listed in a new area, there is then an input box to add a specific price for each group, this uses the existing vm product_price table, so no changes to the DB are required. Hitting save then add the prices, removing the price from the input deletes the price.

When a user then logs with a shopper group which has a specific price attached, they are then shown the required price.

Any one interested please PM me, If there is enough demand Id ask the VM team to contact me, so the updated code could hopefully become core, it is only a small change which does have any knock on effects else where

Many thanks

Ryan

This basically just checks to see if there is a specific shopper group price, if there is it uses that price, failing that it falls back to the default method, the VM team, will know if there is a better way of achieving the same effect, this works for now and seems fairly stable, I will attach the plugin later, which then gives the new  admin section, to actually create the shopper groups prices later today.

Well once I upload the joomla plugin you would install the plugin, then overwrite administrator/components/com_virtuemart/models/product.php , however I would rather it be in core, to save having to update the file every time, but should hopefully be fine for a temp basis.

I have attached an image to give an heads up for what to expect!

Hi!

If I understood correctly, metapps, you have written a plugin for this, and you replace the administrator/components/com_virtuemart/models/products.php file AFTER installing your plugin. Right?

I tried first just to replace products.php with the one that you posted on July 31st, but it crashes: Call to undefined method VirtueMartModelProduct::checkFilterOrder()

Are you going to post your plugin? I've been fighting with this issue for two weeks, and it's killing me.

I am trying to get the shoppergroup prices to work on frontend, but even after doing all this I get the same price on frontend for all. Also in the backend after choosing the shopper-group-specific price-override-rule then the price-field changes for the product-price. It should not change for the product price since the price-over-rule is only for shoppergroup wholesale. I don't understand what I am doing wrong!

Did you add the "Enable shoppergroup specific price display" to all shoppergroups? I tried all and wholesale but no difference.

Here is my test-product:
http://test7.rs1.internet-content.net/index.php?option=com_virtuemart&view=productdetails&virtuemart_product_id=1551

I made 10% discount for only shoppergroup Wholesale and added it to the product. But the discount is showing to all (default/anonomus groups).
In the backend is should show price 11,30 but shows final price 10,17. Also the product has 13% tax added.

What am I doing wrong?

I decided to go with the shoppergroupprice-plugin that is provided by Metapps!

I got it working on a test-site but having problems with it on a site under construction that has been migrated from VM1 to VM2. There I cannot get this plugin working even after doing all the same way as in the other test-site.

I have installed and enabled shoppergroupprice-plugin.
I have installed the product.php file as instructed.
I have made a new shoppergroup "Wholesale" group
I have added 13% VAT tax to the product.
I tried saving a new shoppergroup-price for product shoppergroup Wholesale price-field. When clicking save the price added does not get saved, but the default-price from cost-price-field shows in the Wholesale-shoppergroup-price-field.

Here you see an image of what I mean:

Mettaps, what am I doing wrong? Is is possible the migration process of shoppergroups is messing up the possibility to use the plugin? I did create a new shoppergroup also (ID 15).
Could you have a look and let me know what is wrong?

Thanks!

Anne

Hi Metapps,

vau, you are fast! Thanks!

I can save the shoppergroup price in the backend now, when I also add default-shoppergroup price field in your shoppergroup-price-plugin fields. So that is good now! Problem is when I sign in as a wholesale-shopper I cannot see any prices.
Have a look:
http://uusimoymore.shop1.internet-content.net/testi

(Sign in from:
http://uusimoymore.shop1.internet-content.net/tietosi

user: test
pass: test

then you are a wholesale shopper.

If you sign is with test2 and test2 then you are default shopper and can see all the prices for default shopper.

Hi Metapps,

yes wholesale group is set up to see prices.

I don't have these problems on the testsite here:
http://test17.rs1.internet-content.net/test

I have compared the settings many times and don't see any difference.

Joomla 2.5.6
VM 2.0.10

Shopper groups:
-anonymous-
Retail (default)
Agents
Wholesale

All groups set up to see prices

I want retail and anonymous to see the same price
Agents another price
Wholesale another price

I have installed Metapps plugin as it seems like a brilliant solution so I put in a final price then a shopper group price for agents and wholesale but get two issues:

1. When I save, the wholesale shopper group price reverts to the final price
2. I cannot see any prices on the front end when I log in as a shopper in a group that I have assigned a price to

Please help

Hi Yellow Cherry,

I'm having the very same issues as you.

First of all the issue 1. in backend. I noticed if I am signed in the backend as a wholesale shoppergroup (in Joomla ofcause super user), then the prices in backend do as you mention. So make sure you use in backend a username that is default-shoppergroup user in Virtuemart.

The second issue I have not been able to figure out what is causing is. I have exactly the same problem! My question is do you have a completely clean VM2 installation or did you use one of the migration methods from VM1  to VM2? I have a testsite with completely clean VM2 installation and there I can get the pluging working fine. Then I have this very same problem that you have but that is with a migrated site with VM1 to VM2 migration. There I have this problem. I have the settings on both sites the same so I cannot figure out any other difference than the migration-process. Please let me know if you've migrated or used a clean VM2 start for your site. Thanks!

Anne

I should be able to have a look over the weekend, and fix these final teething problems,
hopefully we can all enjoy shopper group prices!

Thanks metapps - appreciate your work on this!

Issue 1. I changed my super user shopper group to retail (my default shopper group), but price is still overwritten by cost price. If I blank out cost price and final price (as per attached screen shot) and add shopper group prices for anonymous and retail then save, the right prices save and cost price and final price are populated with my default shopper group price. However, then of course I do not see any prices front end because I have allocated a price to the shopper group I am logged in as...leaving us with issue 2.

Issue 2. Mine was a fresh install of VM 2.0.8 and then updated to 2.0.10 before installing the metapps plug in. Running php 5.3.10

Hello, I made some changes in the mettapp's product.php file.  And amymattian's problem was solved

line 750 if(!$ppTable = $db->loadObject() && $admin===false){

I changed to  if((!$ppTable = $db->loadObject()) && ($admin===false)){

Thanks Olga, but didn't fix the problem for me. All my prices and taxes disappeared after change that code. I'll have to for now use child-products as a wholesale products and use a separate stock-quantity-amount for wholesale product versus retail. Hopefully the VM2 shoppergroup issue is solved soon!

thanks!

I think they are building this feature in to the next release of the component

Thank you, but I have a lot of changes in code in VM 2.0.8 and I wouldn't update the component.
Is any solution to update only this functionallity?

Wow, I just read all 5 pages of this and it just fizzled out.

Im using products and stockable products in J2.5.11 VM 2.0.18 and I still cant get shopper group prices to work properly.

In the main all my products are set up with no shopper group, I want normal prices to show to normal users and non logged in users.  & then I want prices for a shopper group.

Did anybody ever get this working properly?  With or without the plugin that metaapps created?

Thanks

Andy

Hi,

yes, shoppergroup pricing is now a default-feature in the VM2 (no need for any extra code). Just create shoppergroups first. Then when adding new prices to a product FIRST add new price and click save, AFTER clicking save add other info (shoppergroup, tax-rule, reductions etc). So the key is that you first add the price and CLICK SAVE. Only after that you can add other details like the shoppergroup from the dropdown. When signing in from frontend the shoppergroups-prices work fine!

Thanks for your reply Amy,
I have played with this today and have it half working ? I have a calculation set so that all shoppergroup users now see a 20% reduction on all products, but I need to set more specific prices on an individual product basis.

As this is an old post & I'm probably going off topic a bit I have created a new post and would welcome your input, as sounds as though you have this sussed!

The new post is here http://forum.virtuemart.net/index.php?topic=117627.msg397585#msg397585

Thanks in Advance
