I have a web site for a client which works fine up until the checkout process.
whenever you fill in the cart, and click on checkout now it brings you to the your account details page.
whenever you fill it in and click save it keeps on this page, it doesn't let you proceed.
I have sef disabled, one page checkout disabled. i've tried reinstalling vm and joomla but to no success.
this used to work but just stopped working for some reason.
does anyone know of this issue or a solution

None of us can guess what you, your client or your host did that made it stop working.........
plus you need to try and debug why

The web site hasn't been touched in months. its very strange
just successfully registered and returned with details to cart page
can't complete as returned to address as you say
but the address form has no indication of compulsory fields and no feed back as to what is wrong
your template doesn't seem to show any messages - I can leave city blank - save - just returns - would normally return with an error message
