to install prettylightbox jquery popup for your virtuemart 2.x

please download the attachment here and extract it first then follow these steps

1)copy jquery-1.6.1.min.js and jquery.prettyPhoto.js  from js folder into your template
/templates/your template/js/jquery-1.6.1.min.js
/templates/your template/js/jquery.prettyPhoto.js

2)then copy prettyPhoto.css from css folder into your template
/templates/your template/css/prettyPhoto.css

then copy and paste com_virtuemart folder into your template and enjoy jquery prettylightbox

But it works not correctly for me.

do you have other, newer solutions or a hint?

particularly the rollover image changes does not work like here:

and the thumbnails are not showing with the grey border like your example.
