[solved] install help needed, please (Cannot find XML setup file)

I apologize if this has been asked and answers, but I have searched and do not find the answer.

I have a fresh install of Joomla 1.7.1 and d/l'd Virtuemart "virtuemart1.9.8.RC2G_extract_first.zip"

I extracted and installed "com_virtuemart.1.98G.zip"

It installed apparently with no problem and showed that a newer version was available and gave an option in update, which I did. It failed with this error "JInstaller: :Install: Cannot find XML setup file". There was also an option to d/l the update so I then chose that and d/l'd "com_virtuemart.1.9.8H.zip" and tried to install with the same error result of "JInstaller: :Install: Cannot find XML setup file".

I then uninstalled Virtuemart and tried to install again, without success, same error "JInstaller: :Install: Cannot find XML setup file"

Can any help?
