VM just died
« on: May 27, 2011, 15:14:38 pm »
We have a VM installation that "died" some days ago. It could be something I did by mistake only I can't find what it is. Front page does not work, products does not show up!!

Please check out http://www.tstudio.gr so we can fix it.

ps: Its a very old installation in joomla 1.0. We will set up a new one soon but till then we have to keep this running.

Any ideas PLEASE?

Your template is broken.
Trying it with index2.php (it worked)

http://www.tstudio.gr/index2.php?page=shop.browse&category_id=17&option=com_virtuemart&Itemid=1

If you try and validate it
I got the following unexpected response when trying to retrieve <http://www.tstudio.gr/>:
    500 Internal Server Error

What did you do to the template?
Could be a <?php if  statement thats wrong.

You could have also gotten hacked.

BUT, thats your problem.

When you view source, the template stops with
<td colspan="2">

So no more html, no closing body, no closing html tag

You might have gotten hacked. CHECK your htacces file for redirects

htacces.txt seems fine. I have never before been hacked... I mean, been hacked means someone gain access to the root of your site right? That's impossible I use high security measures... On the other hand, if some had gained access he would have erased the site or something...

ps: Sorry if my English does not make sense.

I dont know what to tell you. Have you asked your host about activity?

ALSO: why not move to 1.5?

It is certainly a Joomla issue (not VirtueMart. I have seen a couple of these lately where the template parameter options included something like "Would You Like The Component and Article Area Shown On The Frontpage?"  - in both cases the users selected "No" - so no content was shown. Quick switch to "yes" and the sites were resored.

However, with an old Joomla version the most likely cause is a hacker.

ok lets accept that it is hacked. does this mean that someone gain access (ftp) to the root of the site? They would damage other pages too hosted in the same account...

Could be SQL injection , ftp or several other ways of hacking. Joomla 1.0 is no longer supported - this applies to Joomla 1.5 - http://forum.joomla.org/viewtopic.php?f=432&t=335090

Your template index.php file looks to be the problem, as code display stops part way through - no footer or closing tags. Just try switching to a different template in case it is just a case of the template file getting corrupted. Some hackers like to just deface the index.php as a sort of "I was there" trophy.

As I said before I take high security measures. How could they get in? I tried another template but still same problem. :/

;D ;D ;D

What's funny?

It is a spammer. Ignore her or him. Did you check you error logs yet? Did you compare you online template files to the offline ones? Did you compare a database copy to the online one? Did you check for hidden spam links in the database?

1. No I can't
2. No I don't have the template files. It's an old template. I did not build the shop.
3. I don't have a database copy. The only copy I have it's a weekly backup and that one is after it crashed.
4. I don't know how to check for hidden spam links.

Anyway, we stared building a new shop so I am going to take it offline. But please if someone knows, tell me. When a site is hacked does this mean I have a keylogger or something? How can it be hacked that's impossible. :s
