The other day I found an e-commerce system that is completely free, 100% bug free, very easy to read code, and it has 100's of different styling options. It has a 'community' forum, although a team of developers like to answer all the posts. They will even write the code for you if you don't have time.

There is even a free Developer Component for us poor developers, that installs the system, does all the modifications for you, uploads it for the client, and has paypal integration to take their money. Then if you want, it automatically logs into the forum and writes a complaining post for you.

I can post the link if anyone's interested. :)

Ha, ha, ha... I bet there are some who believe the link exists.

Somehow I think this entitlement thing is actually natural in a way. It's easy not to have to think. Giving away something for "free", and even having competitors offering similar "free" products has led to a sense of entitlement. Because it's "free" on the surface, that must mean we are free to expect the developers to spend all their time holding our hand, to deliver a bullet proof product and offer insurance on the whole thing. Wrong. Yes open source is an alternative to commercial. But it's not at all free... it draws from multiple systems including barter, donations, subscription, commercial support, etc. Everyone has to make a living. Just an alternative to overt capitalism best for intrepid Do it yourselfers or those who pay for support.

This misunderstanding about "free as beer" is a major problem that I hope open source can eventually sort out. All the free beer is getting everyone drunk! Now I've said enough...and I realize I should finish that VM manual that I started a while back...

Well, after some research I found the system that was closest. It's worth taking a look at. The only thing that could really be improved is how some members of the forum complain instead of participate.

The link can be found at the top of this page. :)
