The Pre-Update Check for Joomla 4.1.3 with VM 4.0.2 version 10661 shows a long list of VM extension for which the Update Information is Unavailable, ranging from VM Payment plugins to the Virtuemart Package.
Does this mean that newer VM versions have to be awaited before the update to Joomla 4.1.3?

What answer would you like to have ?
There are probably second opinions on this. but I would not update to joomla 4 without thorough testing on a test site some other very strong reasons.

I did not ask for an opinion.
I'm looking for an explanation how to deal with the Joomla Extensions Pre-Update Check "Update Information Unavailable".

I already had some really know extensions updated for Joomla 4 and that broke a site(for eg. K2) in some case.
Do not trust a tool that cannot verify all. For eg. template overrides for an extension

As I told You and Patrick said, do not update. You have already been given info from your Tool to NOT update. What will change that?

The VM download page sais that VM 4.0.2 is compatible with Joomla 4 (see attachment). Apparently it is not.
I would like tot know which version will be really compatible with Joomla 4, avoids me guessing.

Joomla 4 is a open source projekt. It is a complex piece of code. The VM team afaik assumed that they had arrived at a compatible version. As VM also is a complex software this not make things easier. There are probably issues that the test team have missed. So My advice is not to use Joomla 4 yet. If you are concerned about stability, which You should be, You should wait. It can be nice to always have the latest, but you may have also to face the problems that comes as an early adopter. Sorry that I can not promise something that makes it 100% compatible. The VM team is working on this and Will fix issues as they get known.

In that case, which I understand, a much more prudent language about compatibity of VM 4.0.2 with Joomla and clear warnings are recommended on the VM website pages, especially the download page.

Jörgen

Yes, I can agree with You on that one. But this is how it is right now.

Compatible does not mean that it work in all cases.
You have for eg. Some template plugin(t4) that break with a 3party system plugin.
This plugin are working without T4 framework.
But T4 si J4 compatible and the plugin too.
SO if you test T4 with this plugin you mean that T4 is not J4 compatible ?
No , this is a conflict with 2 extensions.
Many big extensions are not running full with J4. So if you need a safe site. DO NOT install J4.
If you have a simple blog then you can try J4

balai

When an extension states that is compatible with J4, means that it is tested thoroughly to perform at least it's basic tasks under that installation.
Bugs may come on the way and when someone reports one, this should be very welcomed and get fixed.

Trying to find excuses on that matter, makes that software worst and the users disappointed.

Amongst the many VM Extensions for which no Update Information is available is the whole VirtueMart package!
It seems to me, whatever explanations are given, that this at least should become available before any Jooma 4.1.4 update could be considered.

I have no clue how the joomla tool checks that. If hte plugins are not on the JED, there is not JED info and so it may tell you, that is is not compatible. Another artificial wall by joomla to make things more complex.
Should I fix your bug, please support the VirtueMart project and become a member

As I indicated, the VM Package is in the Joomla Extensions Directory (JED), and yet Joomla tells me that the Update Information is Unavailable!
I suggest that the Joomla and VM teams communicate with each other, rather then making comments like: "Another artificial wall by joomla to make things more complex". The users need both Joomla and Virtuemart.
