Problem in uploading Virtuemart locally in joomla 2.5

Followed all the process mentioned in upload in
http://dev.virtuemart.net/projects/virt ... structions for my localhost.

But when clicking "upload & install" button getting the error

JFolder::create: Could not create directory
Component Install: Failed to create admin directory: /var/www/administrator/components/com_virtuemart

Please tell me why am I getting this error and how to rectify it.

Looks like a Joomla! issue.
