Sorry guys, I just can't figure it out and my head is spinning. I have read this topic (http://forum.virtuemart.net/index.php?topic=100480.0) but still no luck.

Can anyone help me?

I have a product, Soft Shell Vest. It's available in sizes XS-XXL and in colors Black and Green. The SKU of the Black vest is SSVB but it requires a size, for instance SSVB-XS. Same goes for the Green vest, SSVG-XS. SSV, SSVB and SSVG itself cannot be bought since it requires a size.

How do I set this up?

Thanks for your help!

I think that you have to create 4 child products for each one of your combinations.

Thanks balai and itye2012.
@balai. I'm not sure, but I don't think that's the correct way to do it. But I don't know what IS the correct way to do it.

@itye2012. Can't get it right that way.

What I would like to have is 1 parent 'SSV' (can't be ordered), 2 child products'SSV-B' and 'SSVG' (can't be ordered) and 6 child products for both SSVB and SSVG (XS, S, M, L, XL, XXL) that can be ordered. Each have their own SKU. Is this possible? How?

Hi Jochem, have you tried using the Stockable variants plugin?

If you are using 2.0.6, then have a look at OpenGlobals thread re: any bugs.  In that he has supplied a couple of fixes that should give you the ability to do exactly what you want.

Set up a custom field as:

Custom Field Type:  Plugin
Title: Size and Colour (or whatever you want)
Published: Yes
Parent: Please Select
Cart Attribute: Yes
Description:
Default:
Tooltip: Please choose a size and colour (or whatever you want)
Layout Position: ontop
Admin Only: No
List? : No
Hidden: No
Select a plugin: VM-Custom, stockable variants

Click Save, then choose your Options - i.e.

Option Name: Colour

Option Values:

Green
Black

(make sure they are on different lines)

Option Values:

XS
S
M
L
XL
XXL

Then add a new product.

Under the last tab, Custom Fields, choose your custom field type and click save.

You should then be able to add your variants, with their colour and size attributes and give them individual SKU's titles etc.

If you make sure you replace the files that OpenGlobal has fixed, then the stock control will work and you won't need to create seperate Parents for each colour. :)

Thank you mowgs. I couldn't figure it out but mrooks1984 has done the work for me after giving him a login for the webshop.

Many, many thanks to him!
