Warning: Illegal offset in isset...

After migration I receive lots of error messages. Warning: Illegal offset in isset or empty in /home/my_website/public_html/libraries/joomla/application/menu.php on line 127.
In an earlier post I read the workaround to swith SEF off, but that is not an option for me.
Is there any other solution?
I work with Joomla 1.5.23 and Virtuemart 2.0.2.

Hi all,
I do have the same warning "illegal ecc." with joomla 1.5.22, PHP 5.2.17 and virtuemart 2.0.2. When I disable the option "Friendly Url ecc." in SEO configuration, everything goes, but if I set the option on yes, then that warning comes out.
Did anybody solve this issue?

I believe this only happens with Joomla 1.5 - it was OK in J1.7 and now in J2.5.3 which has much improved native SEO.
