Query taking up to much space

Virtuemart is setup to display 15 products per page. On 3 specific manufacturer category which have lots of products, the products are not displaying in the frondend.
I contacted my host and it turns out that it's running out of space in tmp directory for mysql.

The 3 manufacturer categories have approximately 8800 products, 30000 products and 47500.

How can I get fix this?
