Cart Variant on check out page

I have create Cart Variant with the following values
- Please select color -
red
green...

If the user will not choose one of the color (red / green) the price will be passed is the " - Please select color - "
How can I check the values that the user will choose?
I want to choose one of the attributes that the drop down has except the first value which is the label.

Hi I think your question is just not quite clear.

For most of us we just set up the cart variant and then in the product do what you did and put three options.

Pick a colour
Red
blue

* what exactly are you trying to do?  Are you worried they will not pick a colour? and if so why not just delete the first one. People will choose something and if not then they will get a red (something).
